MARION, Ill. ? A one-run lead did not last long Friday night as the Joliet Slammers dropped a 7-1 Frontier League decision to the Southern Illinois Miners.
Blake Nation (6-0) sparkled for the Miners as the right-hander went seven innings, allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts.
Evan Anundsen took the loss, surrendering five runs on eight hits in 51/3 innings.
The Slammers got on the board in the top of the second inning as Nick Akins scored on Michael Wing?s sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.
The Miners went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth as Jason Ganek and Cory Harrilchak scored on a single by Phil Butler.
Southern Illinois added another run in the fifth to make it 3-1, the scored four runs in the sixth to put the game away.
