INDIANAPOLIS -- Wide receivers posted their 40-yard sprints Sunday at the Scouting Combine and Notre Dame's Michael Floyd helped himself by running in the 4.4s.
A fast 40 time rarely relates to a player?s on-field speed, but Floyd is battling to be the second receiver drafted and this is a positive.
Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon is the top receiver in our eyes, but Floyd, Wake Forest's Chris Givens, Baylor's Kendall Wright are in the mix for No. 2.
Floyd has the size at 6-3, 220 pounds that NFL teams want as big receivers are definitely a hot commodity right now. Combined with his sharp route-running ability and outstanding hands, Floyd could lock up a spot in the top 15 of the April draft.
Jacksonville, Tennessee, St. Louis and Minnesota are developing young quarterbacks and need to find weapons. Floyd would be a great fit.
Not only does he have great hands, but his physical skills give him a huge receiving radius, which is very attractive to NFL teams. Don't be shocked if you start hearing Floyd?s name as a potential top 10 pick after running so well.
