Total puts spotlight on motorcycle performance - Capital Motors

Posted on September 4, 2012 by Capital Motors

Total Kenya Limited has introduced a special 4T 20W-50 motorcycle oil in the market, which has Japanese Automotive Standards Organisation MA2 specifications and is approved for all 4-stroke motorcycle engines.

?

This lubricant can be used for 4-stroke motorcycle engines of any capacity and for gear box lubrication.

?

Total Special 4T oil is available at all the company?s service stations and reseller outlets countrywide.

?

Technical and Training Manager at Total Kenya Limited Ken Koskei explained: ?Motorcycles have become a major mode of transport popularly known as ?boda boda? in Kenya.

?

?For a long time, the 2-stroke engine powered bikes have been using 2T oil. 75 percent of the newly registered machines have 4-stroke engines. This indicates that the lubrication requirement for motorcycles is changing rapidly,? he explained.

?

?Due to lack of a suitable product, owners of bikes have been forced to use conventional motor vehicle engine oils instead of motorcycle specific lubricants,? he said.

?

?This poses a challenge because the engines of these machines are different from those of cars in terms of size, power, tolerance and conditions,? he added.

?

?The newly launched Total Special 4T is the only 4-stroke motorcycle engine oil in the market with JASO MA2 specifications,? Koskei said.

?

?This product is also suitable for wet clutch transmissions for all kinds of motorcycles.?
