Free Workshops at Prescott Film Festival 2012! | IFP Phoenix

Seven FREE Workshops at this year?s Prescott Film Festival! ?From a Hollywood Stuntman?s life in the movies to working in IMPROV to an Academy Award? winning screenwriter?s experiences, the Prescott Film Festival has a wide range of workshops this year!?

The Prescott Film Festival will be presenting seven FREE workshops this year for film fans and filmmakers!?? Six of the workshops will be held on the campus of Yavapai College.?

The Prescott Public Library will host one of the workshops, which features Academy Award? winning screenwriter Michael Blake.? Mr. Blake will talk about his book, Dances with Wolves, the script he wrote based on the book, and other writing (including a sequel to DWW) he has done in the intervening years.? This workshop will be held on Saturday, August 4th, at the Prescott Public Library, Founder?s Suite A&B.??? Later that evening the film festival will have their annual Wine Tasting/Movie event, with the film being Dances with Wolves.? Mr. Blake is scheduled to attend and have a Q&A with the audience after the film.

All other workshops will take place on the campus of Yavapai College, Building 15 (behind the Yavapai College Performing arts Center) Room 209.? They are:

Joe Pronto Presents: The Life and Times of a Hollywood Stuntman

From the famous car chase scene in The French Connection, to high rise handle-barred horseback riding in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles, Joe Pronto has done it all. In this workshop, Joe will give an entertaining account of his work in Hollywood, and even teach a little about how to throw a punch or fall down stairs (hopefully without getting hurt!).

Sam Ingraffia & Doug Burch Presents: To Don?t List; 10 Things Not to Do While Making an Independent Film

Founders of Little Dog Production Company, Sam and Doug have a long history of writing, directing and producing, and have been involved in episodic television and feature film making. Their recent feature film, Wages of Sin, is playing at the Prescott Film Festival, and has been picked up by Osiris Entertainment for distribution. They have taught a number of classes to new filmmakers, and this one will cover all the mistakes made, and lessons learned while making independent films.

Sam Ingraffia & Doug Burch Present: From Script Development to Film Distribution

Founders of Little Dog Production Company, Sam and Doug have a long history of writing, directing and producing, and have been involved in episodic television and feature film making. Their recent feature film, Wages of Sin, is playing at the Prescott Film Festival, and has been picked up by Osiris Entertainment for distribution. They have taught a number of classes to new filmmakers, and this one will cover the nuts and bolts of making a film, starting from developing a script, through distributing the finished product.

Dances with Wolves Academy Award? Winning Screenwriter Michael Blake will talk about his experiences both as a novelist and screenwriter, as well as discuss his future projects.

Sean Kapera Presents: IMPROV; Improvisational Acting and Theatre Games

Actor, Director, Performing Arts Coach and SAG-AFTRA Board member Sean Kapera will facilitate this dynamic and experiential workshop for novice and professional alike. He will be drawing on skills he honed from Paul Sills (who trained Second City in Chicago performers such as Gilda Radner and John Belushi). Must be 18 years or older to participate.

Sean Kapera Presents: SAG-AFTRA: Working with Professional Performers; Yeah, It?s Possible!

Sean draws from his experience as an actor, director, performing arts coach and SAG-AFTRA board member to give practical advice to help filmmakers get the most out of their performers.

Vince Duque Presents: Hollywood: Easy to Get In; Hard to Stay In

Vince has directed music videos, sketches and, most recently, the short film ?Take a Mulligan,? which was well received at the 2011 Prescott Film Festival. Vince assistant-directed thousands of hours of episodic TV, including Heroes, Party of Five, X-Files, The Practice and 7th Heaven, and House M.D. He will discuss opportunities for writers, directors and actors to break into the business, and give suggestions on how to handle it once you?re in.
